Beauty Dishes
BEAUTY DISHES are a great alternative to a softbox or octabox for portrait lighting. The lighting cast from a beauty dish is slightly harder, enhancing and defining facial features, making them perfect for close-up portrait work and beauty photography. The unique design of our beauty dishes maximizes the efficiency of the flash units, providing both a gorgeous and powerful light source.

PLM™ Umbrellas
White PLM™ Umbrellas can be used as a shoot-through, diffused light source, or a soft, bounced light source. Providing a wide, unfocused spread of light, and covering a 150° area, the White PLM™ Umbrella is great for close, low specularity lighting with large round catch lights and very soft shadows. The output and light quality is comparable to octaboxes with various accessory fabrics available for spill and lens flare control (see the Optional PLM™ Accessory fabrics below).
The Soft Silver PLM™ Umbrellas are perfect for everyday use with various subjects. It bounces the light from the flash unit while retaining high efficiency with a wide angle of coverage. The soft silver fabric produces a controlled, feathered falloff with very soft shadows, perfectly round catchlights, and an added specular punch over the white PLM™ umbrellas. The area of coverage is more narrow than that of the white PLM™ umbrella, but the optional white front diffusion fabric opens up the beam spread providing a superior bounced light octabox effect with even surface lighting. (see the white front diffusion fabric in the Optional PLM Accessory fabrics below).
Optional PLM™ Accessory Fabrics add additional ways to use your PLM™ Umbrellas. Please note that the Black Outer Cover and Black Front Spill Kill Fabric are not for use with the Soft Silver PLM™ Umbrellas.

Reflectors are essential modifiers for your flash unit. They differ from a softbox or umbrella by creating a harder light, with a more distinctive fall off. Numerous lighting effects are possible with reflectors ranging from direct focused light, to a broader, more even light spread across your subject. Available in a variety of sizes and styles to best fit your needs.

Softboxes and Beauty Dishes

Octaboxes are a favorite amongst portrait photographers. They create one of the most flattering lights on portrait subjects of all types. The rounder shape creates a wrap of diffused light around your subject and creates a natural looking catch-light in the eyes.
Stripboxes create a soft, narrow and directional light with hard shadow edges. This shape makes them perfect for rim or hair lighting in a portrait or a background light for separation. The shape also applies itself well to product photos, as the highlight created follows the contour of the object and creates a natural shaped highlight on reflective surfaces.
